This quote has always been a great inspiration for me. I even made a make-shift business card, with this quote and a mini black monolith printed right underneath my name. With this mentality, anything cinematic is possible. The ideas, which struggle converting to paper end up constituting great images, once I finally flesh them out. I can take this quote in an escapist manner, and picture far-reaching scenes of the Kuiper Belt, or I can see the psychological tension appear in a couple’s argument. Kubrick created some masterful special effects in the pre-CGI era, and with the ease of modern computer software, the brinks of a film’s diegetic space are endless.
